Haunted Hotels in McCloud

Housed within the historic McCloud River Mercantile Co. building, which dates back to 1897, this hotel occupies a structure that was the heart of the company town of McCloud for nearly a century. 

The sprawling mercantile served generations of lumber workers and their families, functioning as a general store, post office, and community hub. Restored and converted into a hotel and shops, the building retains the tangible atmosphere of its long, industrious past. 

Local lore and guest experiences suggest some former patrons or residents linger. Staff and visitors occasionally report hearing disembodied footsteps on the old wooden floors, particularly on the upper levels where the hotel rooms are located. 

Others describe seeing fleeting shadowy figures in hallways, objects subtly moving on shelves in the shops below, or experiencing unexplained cold spots, as if echoes of the mercantile’s bustling past remain.
