History and Hauntings:

Opening on July 4, 1929, as “Club Arrowhead in The Pines,” this Alpine-style inn was backed by notorious mobster Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel, who convinced the Chicago Mob to finance his vision of an exclusive mountain retreat for Hollywood’s elite.

The manor offered state-of-the-art amenities including electricity, an Olympic-sized pool, tennis courts, and illicit pleasures, such as gambling, bootleg liquor, and “working girls” who operated from the upper floors known as “The Crib.” The brothel continued operations through World War II, with gambling maintained at the connected speakeasy until 1955.

Secret tunnels allegedly linked the manor to the Tudor House across the street, allowing patrons to move discreetly between buildings. Today, the restored 10-room bed and breakfast harbors tragic spirits from its colorful past. Guests report encounters with six-year-old Brian, killed by a car in front of the inn, and Violet, a prostitute whose death, whether suicide or murder, remains disputed.

Visitors experience unexplained phenomena including doors mysteriously closing, disembodied screams, and footsteps echoing through the halls, particularly during the night hours.
