History and Hauntings:

Built in 1888 by Finnish immigrants, this grand Victorian landmark originally served as the Eagle House, a high-end hotel for sailors, loggers, and affluent travelers arriving at Humboldt Bay.

After decades as a popular Italian restaurant and boarding house, it fell into disrepair before its full restoration. The building’s long history as a social hub for Old Town Eureka seems to have left a permanent impression.

Staff and guests report a building teeming with activity. The most prominent spirits are “Frank,” a former janitor and sailor seen in his uniform in the kitchen, and “Abagail,” a “lady of the manor” who allegedly slams stall doors and shatters lightbulbs in the downstairs women’s restroom.

The second floor is particularly active, with reports of a shadow man who darts from Room 214 and the violent rattling of the closet door in Room 215.

Amenities: Free WiFi, Restaurant, Bar/Lounge, Historic decor

Haunted Rating: 3 out of 5 Ghosts.

Best Time to Visit: Best visited during fall (Sept–Nov) for Victorian Halloween events in Eureka.
