History and Hauntings:

Built in 1950, this hacienda-style inn became an unassuming icon of rock and roll history. Its location near the stark beauty of Joshua Tree National Park drew artists and musicians seeking inspiration.

Its most famous, and tragic, association is with country-rock pioneer Gram Parsons. In September 1973, Parsons died of an overdose in Room 8 at the age of 26. Since then, Room 8 has become a pilgrimage site for fans and a focal point for paranormal claims.

Guests and staff report phenomena centered around this room and the adjacent courtyard: the distinct feeling of a presence, cold spots, mirrors inexplicably moving, radios turning on by themselves, and shadowy figures seen near the pool or Room 8’s window.

Many believe Parsons’ restless spirit lingers, forever tied to the place where his music tragically ended.
